UPDATE: Marjorie Sack Hobday, age 95, has passed away peacefully at her home in Burnt Hills, NY, on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Her death marks the end of a remarkable life filled with music, creativity, and a deep commitment to her community.
Born on April 8, 1930, in Niskayuna, NY, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Kenneth Palmer and Florence Louise Sack. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard G. Hobday, and her brothers, Gordon and Kenneth Sack. The couple’s shared passion for music defined their lives together, actively participating in musical organizations such as the Schenectady Choral Society and the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society.
Marjorie’s life was enriched by a love of gardening, crafting, and a profound resourcefulness born from her childhood during the Great Depression. She and Richard spent cherished summers at their camp on the Sacandaga Reservoir, where their love story began during a square dance.
Marjorie’s legacy continues through her son, Gordon (Carol) Hobday, daughters Wendy (Charles) Haugh and JoAnn (Richard) Massad, and her grandchildren: Katherine, Anne, Henry, Joshua (Elizabeth), Zachary (Andrea), Nicholas (Monica). Her great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Maxwell, and Freya also carry her spirit forward.
All are invited to celebrate Marjorie’s life during a Mass at Calvary Episcopal Church, located at 85 Lake Hill Rd, Burnt Hills, NY, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall where family and friends can gather to remember her warmth and grace.
