Mankato East Dominates Rochester Century/John Marshall 7-1

URGENT UPDATE: In a stunning upset, the Mankato East girls hockey team crushed Rochester Century/John Marshall 7-1 at All Seasons Arena on November 11, 2025, snapping Century’s three-game winning streak. This decisive victory positions Mankato East as a serious contender for the Big Nine Conference title.

Mankato East came out strong, scoring three goals in the first period and adding four more in the second. The Cougars showcased their offensive power, with Grace Campbell scoring two goals. A total of ten players contributed to the scoring, demonstrating the team’s depth.

Rochester Century/John Marshall managed to equalize at 1-1 with Katie Nelson‘s goal at 3:54 in the first period. However, Mankato quickly regained the lead on the next shift and never looked back. Goalie Isabella Scranton faced 46 shots, making 39 saves, but ultimately could not contain the Cougars’ relentless attack.

“We knew Mankato East would be a tough opponent,” said Century/John Marshall coach. “We just couldn’t keep up with their pace tonight.”

Mankato East’s offensive highlights included goals from Reagan Steindl, Laina Peterson, Brielle Newton, and others, making it clear that they are a force to be reckoned with this season. Ava Tibodeau and Ella Fugazzi also contributed with assists, showcasing the team’s ability to work together.

Rochester Century/John Marshall, now 3-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the Big Nine, is scheduled to host Princeton/Big Lake/Becker this coming Friday at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Recreation Center, where they will aim to bounce back from this tough loss.
