L.A. County Launches 140 New Vote Centers for Urgent Election

UPDATE: Los Angeles County has just opened an additional 140 vote centers for the November 4 statewide special election, bringing the total to 251 locations across the county. This urgent move aims to facilitate in-person voting, voter registration, and the return of vote-by-mail ballots as the election date approaches.

Starting today, all vote centers will be operational daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., ensuring voters have ample opportunity to cast their ballots. The new centers include locations at Metro Headquarters and the Millennium Biltmore Tower in Los Angeles, providing convenient access for residents throughout the county.

Officials have emphasized the importance of early voting. “With all L.A. County Vote Centers open, voters have convenient options to cast their ballot early,” said Dean C. Logan, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. He urged residents to “avoid the rush” and plan to vote this weekend or on Monday.

For those who may have missed the registration deadline, the county allows eligible voters to complete a “conditional” voter registration at any vote center and cast their ballot on-site. This measure ensures that more voices are heard in this critical election concerning the redrawing of California’s congressional districts.

Voters can find a complete list and map of vote center locations online at locator.lavote.gov, which includes optional GPS tracking to help identify the nearest voting site.

As the election nears, voter engagement is crucial. This expansion of vote centers is a significant step to accommodate the community’s needs and enhance participation. The stakes are high as this election will determine pivotal changes in congressional representation in California.
