John A. Pickar, 62, Passes Away Unexpectedly in Duluth

BREAKING: John A. Pickar, 62, has passed away unexpectedly in Duluth, Minnesota, just days after his birthday on October 3. His family and community mourn the loss of a beloved figure known for his humor and generosity.
Pickar’s death occurred on October 14, 2025, shocking friends and family who knew him as a vibrant and engaging individual. A graduate of East High School in Duluth and the University of Minnesota Duluth, he was a dedicated professional at Great Lakes Office Solutions and an active member of the Rotary Club.
He leaves behind his mother, Peg Pickar, and siblings Christine Beck, Bruce (Amber) Pickar, and Andrew (Kate) Pickar, along with numerous nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him. Preceded in death by his father, Arthur Pickar, his family is now left to navigate the grief of his sudden passing.
John’s faith deeply influenced his life, and he was passionate about outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. Notably, he looked forward to each fishing opener, relishing time spent with friends at the deer shack in Finland, where he enjoyed playing cribbage and reflecting in the quiet of nature.
An enthusiastic collector of vintage beer cans and memorabilia, John was a proud member of the Beer Can Collectors of America. His infectious laughter and ability to connect with people made him a friend to many. “He could light up any room with his humor and went out of his way to help others,” his family shared.
Plans for a Celebration of Life are currently underway and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Dougherty Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories and condolences during this difficult time.
This sudden loss highlights the profound impact John had on his community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and joy that will be remembered by all who knew him.
