UPDATE: A Houston homeowner is urgently seeking answers after she claims city workers removed her landscaping stones, leaving her property vulnerable. Maria Trevino contacted ABC13 after receiving no responses from 3-1-1 regarding the disappearance of her stones on September 18, 2023.
“I came home and asked, ‘Where are the rocks? Where are the stones?'” Trevino expressed her frustration. She had strategically placed these stones on her property over a year ago to prevent cars from driving into her yard—a problem she had faced repeatedly. “Ever since I had put them in that design, I never had that problem again,” Trevino added.
The alarming incident coincided with a scheduled yard waste pickup on September 16. Trevino suspects that the city’s heavy trash team mistakenly removed her stones during their late pickup. Security cameras captured the moment: on the morning of September 18 at 10:03 AM, the stones were visible, but by 10:06 AM, they were gone, replaced by a large piece of machinery loading items into a truck.
Since the stones’ removal, Trevino has not experienced any vehicles encroaching on her property, but her concerns remain high. “I dread every weekend because it usually happens between Thursday and Monday,” she admitted. Trevino has reached out to 3-1-1 multiple times, including follow-ups on September 26 and October 23, but has yet to receive any significant assistance or follow-up calls.
“I would like for them to bring me some stones to put there to replenish the ones that were taken,” Trevino stated, emphasizing her need for safety measures. The frustration deepens as previous reports indicate that only 17% of claims filed with the city are typically paid out, leaving her little hope for a resolution.
In response to Trevino’s plight, Eyewitness News has reached out to 3-1-1 for clarification and support. The lack of accountability and communication from city officials raises pressing questions about municipal responsibility in such incidents.
This story highlights the urgency of community safety and the need for effective city services. As Trevino waits for answers, the community watches closely, hoping for a swift resolution.
