BREAKING: Hilo police have arrested 70-year-old Robert Bradshaw in connection with a fatal parking lot incident that occurred earlier today. This shocking altercation, which left a 64-year-old man dead, unfolded at approximately 7:38 a.m. on Kamehameha Avenue.
Witnesses reported a heated confrontation between Bradshaw and the victim, during which Bradshaw allegedly brandished a knife. Following the physical altercation, police say Bradshaw got into his van and intentionally ran over the victim before attempting to flee the scene.
Officers quickly responded to the disturbance call and discovered the injured man lying in the parking lot. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at 9:03 a.m. at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Authorities are currently working to confirm the victim’s identity and notify his family.
Law enforcement swiftly located Bradshaw’s white van nearby and apprehended him. He was treated for injuries sustained in the incident before being booked at the East Hawai‘i Detention Facility. The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination as detectives investigate the case, which has escalated from attempted murder to second-degree murder following the victim’s death.
Detective David Po’ohina is leading the investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that may advance the investigation.
