Hillsborough County Launches Urgent Food Pantry Events This Month

UPDATE: Hillsborough County’s Healthy Living Program is launching urgent food pantry events this month in partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay, aimed at combating food insecurity during the festive season. These events are set for November 9, 2023, at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center and November 10, 2023, at both the Plant City and SouthShore Healthy Living Centers, providing essential support to local residents.

As the holiday season approaches, many families are struggling with food insecurity. Hillsborough County officials are stepping up to ensure that residents can celebrate without the stress of an empty table. The Healthy Living Program aims to provide not just temporary relief but ongoing support for health and wellness throughout the community.

Each food distribution event will offer packages filled with fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples to anyone aged 18 or older, regardless of income. The program is keenly focused on making nutritious food accessible to all, especially during this critical time.

The upcoming events are open to the public, reinforcing the Healthy Living Program’s commitment to assist those in need. In addition to food distribution, the program is expanding its services this holiday season, offering free access to exercise rooms, group fitness classes, and nutrition consultations at four Healthy Living Centers across the county.

Residents seeking assistance can simply drop by the events or call the Healthy Living Program for more detailed information. The initiative is not only focused on food; it also collaborates with local organizations like ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry to provide comprehensive support, including food and clothing assistance.

This holiday season, Hillsborough County is determined to make a difference. With these food pantry events just days away, residents are urged to take advantage of the resources available to ensure their festive celebrations are filled with joy, not worry.
