Hickory Police Launches Cops for Tots: Applications Open Now!

URGENT UPDATE: The Hickory Police Department has officially opened applications for its highly anticipated annual Cops for Tots event, aimed at bringing holiday joy to children in need. This year’s initiative, which has expanded significantly since the 1980s, will provide toys to families across multiple counties, including Catawba, Burke, Alexander, and Caldwell.

Families wishing to participate in the 2025 Cops for Tots Wish House can apply now through the City of Hickory’s official website or in person. Applications are available in Spanish, ensuring accessibility for all community members. Eligibility requirements state that applicants must present a current government-issued photo ID, along with a Medicaid card or a birth certificate for each child. Children aged from birth to 13 years old are eligible, but families already enrolled in the Christmas Bureau for 2025 cannot apply.

The Cops for Tots Wish House will be open from December 10 to December 12, 2025, at the Hickory Police Training Annex. Two daily sessions are scheduled: the morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the afternoon session from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.. This event represents not just a charitable effort, but also a vital opportunity for community engagement, showcasing the police department’s commitment to fostering positive relationships within the community.

Residents can also contribute to this worthy cause by dropping off new, unwrapped toys at designated collection boxes located at the Hickory Police Department. For those unable to donate toys, monetary contributions can be sent by mail, with all proceeds going directly to the Christmas Wish House and related programs for children.

“We invite our community to help make the holidays brighter for children in need,” stated a spokesperson from the Hickory Police Department. The department encourages everyone to join in this heartwarming initiative, ensuring that every child experiences the joy of the season.

For further inquiries or more information on how to get involved, individuals can contact the Hickory Police Department directly. Details are available on the city’s website, making it easy for anyone wishing to lend a helping hand this festive season.
