Families are invited to participate in a series of holiday activities, including a shopping passport that offers a chance to win prizes at participating businesses. The initiative aims to boost local economies, as every purchase directly supports small businesses that keep Hamburg vibrant.
The Our Town Foundation, which manages Hamburg’s Main Street Program, is thrilled about the town’s designation as a PA Main Street Matters community. This new recognition paves the way for business growth, community events, and significant downtown improvements, marking a transformative chapter for Hamburg.
Following Small Business Saturday, the town will host its inaugural Christmas in the Square on Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at State Street Square, located at 222 State St.. This festive event, sponsored by Copperz Brewing Co., promises holiday music, visits from Santa, and activities for all ages, aiming to strengthen community bonds and create lasting memories.
The Shop Small Movement, established by American Express in 2010, emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses, with an estimated $223 billion spent at small businesses on Small Business Saturday since its inception.
Local churches and community organizations will also contribute by offering crafts and activities for children during the Christmas in the Square event. After the festivities, families can enjoy a free Christmas movie at the newly renovated Hamburg Strand Theatre, which features fresh seating and flooring, starting at 1 p.m.
