Gerald R. Cote, Former GE VP, Passes Away at 85

BREAKING NEWS: Gerald R. Cote, a respected former Vice President of the General Electric Company, has passed away at the age of 85, confirmed today. Cote, who died on November 12, 2023, was a lifelong resident of Niskayuna, New York, and a beloved figure in his community.

Born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH, Cote graduated from Pinkerton High School before earning a degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His distinguished career at GE spanned over three decades, during which he held various management roles across multiple divisions and locations, ultimately becoming a Vice President with assignments in Schenectady, NY, and Louisville, KY.

Cote was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his deep love for family and sports. He married his late wife, Sally, in July 1963, and together they created a vibrant family life. Cote was an enthusiastic sportsman, having played three sports in high school and football in college. He cherished the moments spent coaching and supporting his late son, Brian, during little league and high school baseball games.

Later in life, Cote developed a passion for golf, enjoying many years of competition and leisure with friends and family. As a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, he followed every game closely, finding joy in their victories.

Gerald R. Cote is survived by his sons, Andrew (Sydney) and Christopher (Julia), as well as his two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, who brought him immense joy and pride.

In accordance with Cote’s wishes, there will be no service held. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to The Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
