BREAKING: The Valdosta State Lady Blazers fell to the Lynn University Fighting Knights, 76-65, in a heated matchup on November 27, 2025, in Boca Raton, Florida. This loss marks a setback for the Lady Blazers, now standing at 2-2 this season.
The game kicked off with VSU taking an early lead at 4-0, courtesy of senior Aryana Hicks and sophomore Ka’Miah Pryor. However, the Fighting Knights quickly turned the tide, with Hannah Wentworth sinking a three-pointer to give Lynn its first lead at 12-11. The Knights surged ahead, ending the first quarter 23-14.
As the second quarter unfolded, Lynn maintained its momentum, pushing the lead to 35-18 with a 9-0 run. A series of free throws and three-pointers from Wentworth and Trinity Mocadlo compounded the Blazers’ troubles. Despite a late three from sophomore Alina Martin, the Lady Blazers entered halftime trailing 44-22.
The second half began with VSU showing signs of life. Junior Erin Whalen scored a mid-range jumper, followed by a layup from Hicks, narrowing the gap to 51-28. However, Lynn’s scoring continued, with the Knights entering the final quarter ahead 59-39.
Despite a valiant effort from Hicks, who scored 17 points on 70% shooting, and a late surge in the fourth quarter, the Blazers could not close the gap. Freshman Kaci Demps made significant contributions with ten points, including two three-pointers, but the team’s efforts fell short, finishing the game 76-65.
“We fought hard in the second half, but we need to start stronger,” Hicks commented after the game.
The Lady Blazers outscored the Fighting Knights 23-17 in the final quarter, highlighting their resilience. Whalen also led the team in rebounds and assists, recording six boards and five assists.
Looking ahead, the Lady Blazers will face a tough challenge this Saturday, November 29, at 2 p.m. ET when they host the No. 9 ranked Embry-Riddle at The Complex. Fans are eager to see if VSU can bounce back and reclaim their momentum.
