Elaine Hendrix Confirms DWTS Return After Hospitalization for Injury

UPDATE: Actress Elaine Hendrix is on the mend and confirmed her return to Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) rehearsals this Friday after a recent hospitalization due to a rib injury. In an emotional Instagram update on October 29, 2023, Hendrix reassured her fans she is recovering and ready to hit the ballroom next Tuesday.

In a heartfelt video shared with partner Alan Bersten, Hendrix, 54, stated, “I am up and about. I am tender. I am sore. But I’m starting pain management today.” While she will not be dancing today or tomorrow, she expressed excitement for the upcoming live show, “I want to dance, I want to keep doing this.”

Hendrix was rushed to the hospital earlier this month after experiencing severe rib pain during rehearsals for the Halloween Night episode. She had injured herself while practicing a routine to Wicked’s “Defying Gravity,” causing her ribs to seize up. “I couldn’t move. They brought me to the hospital,” she explained. Thankfully, doctors advised her that with a couple of days of rest, she would be able to return to the competition.

Despite her absence from the Halloween Night broadcast, Hendrix and Bersten managed to secure a score of 8s across the board based on prior rehearsal footage. They were saved from elimination thanks to fan votes, as Bersten confirmed in a TikTok Live, “You guys voted, we are going to be safe. We got another dance to do.”

Reflecting on missing the live show, Hendrix expressed her disappointment, saying, “The hardest part of yesterday was not being able to show you just how incredible our piece could have been.” She shared glimpses of her costume inspired by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, which she was excited to unveil.

As fans rally behind her, the supportive messages are palpable, with Hendrix acknowledging the outpouring of love: “All of your messages, I’m seeing it all. And I just want you to know that, first and foremost, I’m OK.”

As the Dancing With the Stars competition heats up, all eyes will be on Hendrix and Bersten when they make their much-anticipated return on November 4, 2023, for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame themed episode. The dance community is eager to see how she bounces back from this setback.
