The game unfolded in Sunnyside, where Eagle Academy improved its record to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in league play. Alongside Perez, Juneek Daniels notched a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Justin Webley and Anthony Riley contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively. “We’ve been playing a stronger game ever since,” said head coach Justin Spisto, highlighting the recent tactical shift that moved Riley to point guard.
Petrides struggled despite impressive performances from Kareem Nesbit and Aiden Gonzalez, who scored 21 and 18 points respectively. After a strong start, the Panthers fell to 2-7 overall and 1-6 in league play.
In other action on Staten Island, New Dorp secured a decisive 51-30 victory over CSIM. Sergio Batista was the standout player, scoring a game-high 17 points as New Dorp improved to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in league play. Meanwhile, St. Peter’s faced a tough defeat against St. Francis Prep, losing 67-38. The Eagles couldn’t recover from a double-digit halftime deficit despite contributions from Sean Gannon and AJ Troia. Prep’s Oesoemana Sacko scored a remarkable 26 points, helping his team rise to 5-2 overall.
In a closely contested game, Fordham Prep edged out Sea with a final score of 50-38. The Rams’ Nick Rebracca matched the game high with 17 points, but the Vikings couldn’t overcome a halftime deficit that halted their three-game winning streak.
