BREAKING: Cloquet, Minnesota is mourning the loss of beloved community member Rosa Lee Manderfeld, who passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 83. Known affectionately as Rosie, she dedicated her life to nursing and her family, leaving a lasting legacy.
Rosie was born on February 2, 1942, to George and Senja Ahlgren, growing up on a small farm in Cloquet. A proud graduate of Cloquet High School in 1960, she pursued a career in nursing, serving as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for 42 years at Cloquet Memorial Hospital. Her commitment to healthcare is remembered fondly by those she served.
An avid walker, Rosie completed the prestigious Grandma’s Marathon in 1992, showcasing her determination and spirit. She married Jerome (Jerry) Manderfeld on February 16, 1963, and together they raised two children, Elizabeth and David. Their marriage lasted 46 years until Jerry’s passing in 2009.
Rosie’s family has announced that she is preceded in death by her parents and many siblings, including brothers George, Arnold, Ronald, Gordon, and Bruce Ahlgren, as well as sister Arlene Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Fakhoury (Haidar), son David Manderfeld (Dawn), grandchildren Jeries (Shannon) and Joseph Fakhoury, Logan (Rita Kuzko) and Kiera Manderfeld, and great-grandson Micah.
The family has expressed their deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community. A celebration of Rosa’s life will be planned for a later date, allowing friends and family to gather in remembrance of her contributions.
