Community Events Surge This Weekend: Art, Fundraisers & More!

URGENT UPDATE: A flurry of exciting community events is set to unfold this weekend across Wyoming Valley, with celebrations in art, fashion, and family-friendly activities. Residents can take advantage of these engaging opportunities right now!
Wyoming Valley Art in the Garden Exhibition is currently showcasing stunning artworks from the 2025 Back Mountain Gardens tour. This exhibition runs through Friday, Oct. 24, at the Schulman Gallery located at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke. On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Wyoming Valley Stamp Club will host a festive Halloween event at 1 p.m. at the Hoyt Library in Kingston. Marking National Stamp Collection Month, attendees can enjoy a “Haunted Library” display, spooky stamp presentations, and a children’s Trick or Treat table. This event is open to the public, and new members are encouraged to join.
Also on Saturday, residents can participate in the Prescription Drug Take Back drive-thru event from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the rear parking lot of the Luzerne County Courthouse. The Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Drug and Alcohol Program will provide free Narcan, drug deactivation pouches, and medication lock bags to promote safety in the community.
Food lovers won’t want to miss the Back Mountain Chicken and Biscuit Dinner on the same day, serving from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Dallas. Enjoy a delicious meal for just $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 4 to 10. Reservations are recommended by calling the church office at 570-675-3131.
The Wyoming Valley Women’s Club is hosting a fashion show and scholarship fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 26. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Wilkes-Barre East Mountain. Tickets are available for $30, which includes a luncheon and fashion show. Finally, the Domestic Violence Service Center will hold “A Night at Sabatini’s” fundraiser on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sabatini’s Bottleshop and Bar. Tickets are priced at $30 in advance and $35 at the door, which includes unlimited pizza and three drink tickets.
