Colorado Springs Launches DiscoverCOS Calendar to Aid Reforestation

URGENT UPDATE: Colorado Springs has just unveiled its latest initiative, the DiscoverCOS Calendar, designed to bolster local reforestation efforts in the Snyder Quarry. Released today, this is the 13th edition of the calendar, featuring stunning photographs that capture the breathtaking landscapes of Olympic City USA.

With over 300 submissions from more than 100 photographers, the calendar showcases the beauty of the city’s parks, trails, and open spaces. Starting today, residents can obtain this calendar for a suggested donation of $15, with all proceeds directly funding tree planting initiatives aimed at restoring vital habitats in the newly managed 163-acre ecological site, Snyder Quarry, located in Black Canyon Open Space.

Kim King, the assistant director of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS), emphasized the significance of this dual-purpose initiative. She stated,

“We’re especially proud that this year’s calendar supports local reforestation efforts, allowing art and stewardship to come together for a lasting impact.”

This marks a pivotal shift in the project, transforming the calendar from a simple collection of images into a powerful tool for environmental change.

The funds raised will be specifically allocated for planting trees to enhance the resilience of the local ecosystem, highlighting the city’s commitment to ecological preservation. As attention to environmental issues intensifies, this initiative stands out as a proactive measure that merges community engagement with ecological responsibility.

Residents are encouraged to participate in this meaningful project while enjoying the artistic representation of their hometown. With the DiscoverCOS Calendar, Colorado Springs not only celebrates its scenic beauty but also takes a substantial step toward a greener future.

Expect more updates as this initiative unfolds and community involvement grows. The calendar is now available for purchase, making it an ideal gift for those who appreciate nature and wish to contribute to a vital cause. Share this news to spread awareness and support local reforestation efforts!
