UPDATE: A Biddeford man has been arrested for allegedly dealing drugs out of a tent located dangerously close to a school. Brandon Gelsomini, 28, faces serious charges of aggravated drug trafficking and violation of his conditions of release, as confirmed by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA).
The arrest follows a two-month investigation triggered by alarming reports of drug activity near Biddeford High School. Authorities executed a search warrant at Gelsomini’s tent early Wednesday morning, uncovering a significant stash of illegal substances.
During the search, officers discovered a staggering 120 grams of fentanyl, 21 grams of powder cocaine, and 5 grams of crack cocaine. Additionally, they found a loaded shotgun and approximately $7,000 in suspected drug proceeds. The total estimated value of the seized drugs is around $14,000.
Gelsomini was taken into custody and is currently being held at the York County Jail in Alfred. He awaits a court appearance set for Halloween, as the investigation remains ongoing.
The proximity of the drug operation to a school raises significant safety concerns for the community. The MDEA emphasizes the importance of vigilance and cooperation in combating drug-related crime, particularly in areas frequented by children.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information related to this case or drug activity in their neighborhoods to come forward. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
