Beloved Mayor Christine Fitzpatrick Passes Away at 75

UPDATE: The community of Ballston Spa is mourning the loss of Christine M. Fitzpatrick, who passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 75. Fitzpatrick, a trailblazer and the first female mayor of Ballston Spa, dedicated her life to public service, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

Christine was born on April 21, 1950, in Manhattan, New York. She grew up in Queens alongside her five siblings, fostering a lifelong love for family and community. Fitzpatrick’s educational journey took her from St. Joseph’s grammar school to a bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University. She later pursued a master’s degree at George Washington University.

Her diverse career spanned roles as an elementary school teacher, a public servant at the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, and vice president of employee benefits at Macy’s, Inc.. Fitzpatrick was passionate about advocacy, negotiating health benefit contracts for New York State employees before becoming the executive director of the New York State Adult Day Health Care Council.

Fitzpatrick’s commitment to Ballston Spa was evident during her time as mayor, where she successfully turned a $300,000 deficit into a substantial $4.8 million fund balance. Her collaborative spirit led to significant improvements in local policies and community engagement, setting a course for a vibrant and inclusive village.

Known for her warm heart and adventurous spirit, Christine enjoyed reading, travel, and family gatherings. She was an exemplary communicator, touching countless lives with her thoughtful cards and messages.

Christine is survived by her loving siblings, nieces, and nephews, as well as her cherished partner, Richard Dautner. Her legacy of advocacy and community involvement will resonate for generations.

Calling hours for Christine Fitzpatrick will be held on December 3, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on December 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa.
