A new chapter in the world of Dragon Ball is set to unfold as publisher Bandai Namco announced the development of a new game project titled Age 1000. This exciting reveal took place during the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event held this past weekend. Scheduled for release in 2027, the project promises to introduce players to a “brand-new Dragon Ball world” featuring original characters crafted by the series creator, Akira Toriyama.
The teaser trailer for Age 1000 highlights an intriguing character designed by Toriyama prior to his passing in 2024. Bandai Namco describes this project as one that will “introduce even more unique characters as the adventure unfolds.” The trailer centers on this unnamed original character, identified as a member of Capsule Corporation, whose attire features the initials “GS.” While the focus is on this new character, the trailer also pays homage to beloved heroes and villains from the franchise.
As the trailer progresses, viewers witness a dramatic zoom into the new character’s eye, unveiling fleeting glimpses of iconic figures such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and Beerus. The excitement builds as the character transforms into Super Saiyan, a hallmark of the series that fans have come to cherish.
Age 1000 draws connections to the earlier Dragon Ball Online, a MMORPG that debuted in select Asian markets in 2010. Although the servers for this game have since been shut down, elements and characters from it were later adapted for the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series. Both Dragon Ball Online and Dragon Ball Xenoverse emphasized original, customizable characters while exploring the expansive history of the Dragon Ball universe.
The Age 1000 project is anticipated to be available on unspecified platforms in 2027. Bandai Namco has indicated that further details regarding the game will be shared at the upcoming Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, which is set to take place in the United States on April 18-19, 2026. Fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting more information on this exciting new venture.
