BREAKING: A 17-year-old girl tragically lost her life in a snowmobile accident Saturday afternoon in Washburn, Maine. The accident occurred shortly after 1:00 PM on Story Street, according to the Maine Warden Service.
The girl was a passenger on the snowmobile driven by a 17-year-old boy when the vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to navigate a 90-degree turn, striking a curb and flipping over. Both teenagers were ejected, and the snowmobile then collided with the side of a nearby house, as reported by Maine Warden Service spokesperson Mark Latti.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, the girl was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. The boy sustained multiple injuries and was initially transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou before being transferred to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment. Both teens were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
