The Central College baseball team kicked off its season on March 3, 2024, marking the earliest debut in the program’s history. The team faced a challenging start, suffering an 8-4 loss to Augustana University from Illinois before bouncing back with a decisive 16-6 victory over Grinnell College.
In the second game against Grinnell, Central (1-1) showcased a powerful offensive performance. Leading 9-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the team erupted for seven runs, prompting the umpire to invoke the run rule and conclude the game early.

Senior third baseman Brayden Sawyer had a standout day, achieving an impressive 4-for-5 at the plate, which included three doubles and five runs batted in (RBI). His performance was pivotal in securing the win against Grinnell.
Also contributing significantly was senior right fielder Jaden Kramer, who recorded three hits and added three RBI to his tally. The duo’s combined efforts underscored Central’s ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities, especially in the latter stages of the game.
