John Wayne Davidson, a beloved figure known for his dedication to family and community, passed away recently, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and adventure. Born in San Pedro to Cleo and John Davidson, he grew up as the eldest of three brothers, fostering a deep connection with nature through family camping and fishing trips.
John’s early years were marked by his involvement in sports and his passion for automobiles. He was an active member of the swim team and took pride in his Volkswagen Bug, as well as his participation in the local Pedro car club. His life took a significant turn when he met Laureen Demaria at school. The two graduated together in the Class of 1969 and married on October 2, 1971. They welcomed their daughter, Kimmy, in 1973, further solidifying the bond of their family.
Career and Community Involvement
Following in his father’s footsteps, John began working at the San Pedro News-Pilot early in his career. His work ethic was evident, and he quickly became known as a reliable employee. In 1977, John joined his father-in-law, Anthony Demaria, Sr., as one of the first employees at Demaria Electric, where his intelligence and dedication made a lasting impact.
In 1984, the family relocated to Bullhead City, Arizona, fulfilling a long-held dream of living near the water. There, John became a firefighter, eventually rising to the rank of Battalion Chief. He also launched his own venture, Davidson Electric, and built a home that exemplified his love for the outdoors. His passion for fishing thrived in Bullhead City, where he spent countless hours on the water.
Family and Lasting Memories
John’s love for his family was unparalleled. He and Laureen hosted numerous gatherings, including the cherished “Bullhead Easter Bunny Hop,” where family and friends would gather to create lasting memories on the lake. John was devoted to his daughter Kimmy, her husband David Hansen, and his grandchildren, Dalton and Renn. His family was his pride and joy, and he often expressed his love for them publicly.
As a husband, father, son, and friend, John Davidson is remembered as a great man who embraced life and all its adventures. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed. John, may you catch that big bass in the sky, knowing that your family and friends hold you in their hearts forever.
