William F. Sargent, Esteemed Community Member, Passes Away

William F. Sargent, a respected member of the North Haverhill, NH community, passed away on February 4, 2026, at Cottage Hospital. He was 83 years old. Born on November 28, 1942, in Concord, NH, he was the son of the late Harrison and Mona (Porter) Sargent.

Sargent attended elementary school in Canterbury, NH, and graduated from Penacook High School in 1960. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for four years. He married Lucy Eldridge on November 19, 1968, in Boscawen, NH, and the couple shared a fulfilling partnership for over 57 years.

Throughout his life, Sargent engaged in a variety of occupations including woodsman, oil worker, general contractor, and USPS mail carrier. He became a devoted member of the Church of Christ in 1980, consistently contributing to his community.

Away from work, Sargent had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved gardening, traveling, and visiting Nova Scotia, the birthplace of his mother. He cherished spending time with his family, which included five children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Sargent was predeceased by three brothers—Harry, Richard, and Leroy—and his sister, Elsie, along with one grandson, Jayson Nelson.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Tributes

Sargent’s funeral service will take place at 15:00 on February 27, 2026, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, with Randy Gardner officiating. Following the service, a celebration of life will occur at the Church of Christ on Fisherville Road in Penacook, NH.
