San Diego County to Experience Warming Before Windy Weekend

A warming trend is set to affect San Diego County on October 21 and 22, 2025, with temperatures rising to near-normal levels. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), daytime highs on Thursday will range from 67 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 71 to 74 inland, 71 to 76 in the valleys, 67 to 74 in the mountains, and 85 to 89 in the deserts. This shift in weather will bring a mix of warmth and dryness before a cooler and windier system moves into the region over the weekend.
Temperature Fluctuations Expected
Temperatures are anticipated to fluctuate around average in the coming days, resembling a gentle ocean swell. The NWS reports that, following the brief warm spell, temperatures will dip a few degrees below average on Wednesday. By Friday, a rise above average is expected before another drop this weekend. Next week should see temperatures crest above average once again.
The forecast highlights a dynamic pattern for San Diego County, where residents can expect changing weather conditions. Highs for Thursday are projected to be comfortable, offering a pleasant contrast to the cooler temperatures that will follow.
Weekend Weather Changes
As the weekend approaches, cooler and windier weather is forecasted due to an incoming system. Strong west winds are likely to develop on Sunday afternoon and evening, particularly affecting the mountains, deserts, and passes, with gusts potentially exceeding 30 mph. The weather system itself is expected to remain dry, with no precipitation anticipated as the rain and storms will remain well to the north, according to the NWS.
Early next week, meteorologists predict a gradual return to warming temperatures, accompanied by periods of weak offshore flow. This cycle of fluctuating temperatures reflects the region’s characteristic climate, offering both challenges and opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
Overall, this upcoming weather pattern underscores the importance of staying informed through reliable sources such as the National Weather Service, which provides timely updates on changing conditions.
