Nominations Open for 2026 Jefferson Awards Honoring Community Service

Nominations are currently open for the prestigious 2026 Jefferson Awards, which recognize exceptional individuals and organizations dedicated to community service. Often referred to as the Nobel Prize for community service, these awards highlight those making significant contributions to the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas.

The Rotary Club of Cincinnati organizes the Jefferson Awards, celebrating those who have initiated transformative programs or provided extraordinary volunteer service to address unmet community needs. Each year, the club seeks to honor volunteers who have developed impactful initiatives or demonstrated exceptional commitment to various organizations.

In 2025, the awards were presented to Lisa Graham and Brewhaus Bakery & Dog Bones. This unique bakery produces small-batch handcrafted dog treats while simultaneously offering meaningful learning and work opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Their work exemplifies the spirit of the Jefferson Awards, showcasing how local initiatives can create positive change.

The deadline for submissions is set for 5 p.m. on February 13, 2026. Nominations can be submitted through an online form available at this link. The awards ceremony will take place during a meeting of the Cincinnati Rotary Club on March 19, 2026.

The Rotary Club of Cincinnati, the first of its kind in the city, serves as a vital service and networking organization for business and community leaders. Its mission is centered on providing selfless service both locally and globally. The National Jefferson Awards program was established in 1972 by Cincinnati native Robert Taft and former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, aiming to recognize and promote community service across the United States.

The Cincinnati Enquirer collaborates with the Rotary Club to present this local awards program, underscoring the importance of community engagement and the impact of dedicated individuals and organizations in shaping a better society.
