Englewood Methodist Church Hosts Colossal Rummage Sale Feb 19-21

From February 19 to 21, 2026, the Englewood Methodist Church will host its annual Colossal Rummage Sale at the Fellowship Hall, located at 700 E. Dearborn. This event, renowned in the community, marks its 40th year, having only skipped 2021 due to the pandemic. Attendees can expect to find thousands of items, making it a highly anticipated occasion for bargain hunters.

Early Bird shoppers can get a head start on February 19, from 15:00 to 18:00, by paying a $5 admission fee. Access during this pre-sale allows participants to browse the best selections before the general public. Those interested should visit the “Wristband Sales” tents in the parking lot for entry.

The sale will open to everyone for free on February 20, from 09:00 to 15:00, and February 21, from 09:00 to 12:00. Attendees can also enjoy affordable food options available each day.

The range of items available is extensive, including furniture, small appliances, electronics, toys, clothing, jewelry, craft supplies, and home décor. The event serves as a treasure trove for anyone looking for bargains.

Community Support and Fundraising Efforts

The tradition of the rummage sale was initiated by the Methodist Women, who have been pivotal in raising funds for charitable causes both locally and internationally. The Methodist Men contribute as well, making it a joint effort with proceeds allocated to various projects aimed at assisting those in need.

Funds raised during the event support initiatives such as scholarships for local youth involved with the church, which serves over 2,000 community members each season. The Methodist Women also direct contributions to local organizations including Foundations Pre-School, Englewood Meals on Wheels, and the Englewood Community Care Clinic.

In addition to the rummage sale, the church conducts an annual Christmas Bazaar every November, generating further funds for charitable efforts. Due to increasing donations, a Christmas-Only Rummage Sale was introduced seven years ago to accommodate the growing volume of items.

The Methodist Men also bolster fundraising through their popular Country Breakfasts, held bi-weekly from February 14 to March 28. For $10, adults can enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, while children under 12 eat free. The breakfasts feature hand-crafted gifts and decorations, showcasing the creativity of the church’s members.

Donations for this year’s rummage sale closed on February 7, but the church plans to reopen drop-off opportunities after the sale concludes. Individuals can leave clothing and small items at the donation shed located in the church’s back lot. For larger items or furniture, arrangements for pickups can be made by contacting the church once drop-offs resume.
