Creative Cypher has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Cindy Beasley as its first woman president. This move comes after a successful period marked by two Emmy nominations, three Telly Awards, and recognition at major festivals. Founded by creative visionary Troy Pryor, Creative Cypher aims to expand its influence while continuing to amplify underrepresented voices in the film and television industry.
Beasley, a lifelong creative from Chicago, has an extensive background in media production. Her experience includes producing shows for notable figures such as former FOX Chicago News anchor Robin Robinson and Emmy Award-winning journalist Samantha Chatman. “I’ve been blessed to be a collaborative partner in something that the city and culture needs,” Beasley said. “Creative Cypher is building the next generation of creatives and entertainment thought leaders.”
In her new position, Beasley will oversee projects across all departments of Creative Cypher, which is known for its innovative approach to content creation. “With structure and soul, I look forward to leading the way,” she stated. Beasley’s career spans over a decade in television and media, demonstrating her ability to bridge the gap between logistics and creative endeavors.
Leadership Team Expansion
Alongside Beasley, Creative Cypher has introduced a newly minted leadership team. Kyle Marshall has been appointed Chief Operations Officer, while Starr Gadson takes on the role of Chief Marketing Officer. Both Marshall and Gadson have been long-time contributors to the organization and bring valuable experience to their new roles.
The company is poised to continue its growth with flagship initiatives like XL Fest, which will expand through a collaboration with TateMen Entertainment. This festival has garnered significant media attention and previously hosted entertainment luminaries such as Robert Townsend, Larenz Tate, and Vivica Fox. Creative Cypher aims to solidify its presence in Chicago while extending its reach on the global festival circuit.
Pryor will remain active as Chairman of Creative Cypher, continuing to influence several boards, including SAG-AFTRA Chicago and Definition Theater. “The goal has always been elevation and avoiding founder syndrome,” he remarked. “I launched Creative Cypher because I saw a lack of growth from other organizations, so it’s important that we practice what we preach.”
As Pryor expands his role as an executive producer, he is also returning to his on-camera roots, co-hosting “Connect the Starrs” on Rejoice 102.3 FM alongside Gadson. Creative Cypher’s evolution is a testament to its commitment to fostering a vibrant entertainment ecosystem in Chicago and beyond.
