Christian Heritage Lions Dominate Armuchee, Secure Playoff Spot

The Christian Heritage Lions concluded their regular season with a commanding victory against the Armuchee Indians, winning 42-7 on October 31, 2025. This decisive win not only capped the Lions’ regular season at a strong 7-3 overall but also ensured their place in the upcoming playoffs as they finished with a 6-1 record in their region. In contrast, Armuchee ended their season without a win, finishing at 0-9.

The match, held at the Lions’ Den, showcased Christian Heritage’s dominance from the outset. The Lions quickly established control, securing a running clock for the second half due to their substantial lead. The first standout moment came early in the game when junior defensive end John Stanley recovered a fumble on Armuchee’s second snap, setting the tone for a strong defensive performance.

With less than nine minutes left in the first quarter, freshman quarterback Charlie Baxter connected with senior tight end Benji Michmerhuizen on a 21-yard pass for the opening touchdown. The successful extra point by junior kicker Luis Salinas put the Lions ahead 7-0.

Armuchee’s struggles continued as sophomore quarterback Riley Millican faced pressure from the Lions’ defense. An interception by senior strong safety Sawyer Corn initially gave the Lions another opportunity, but a pass interference penalty returned possession to the Indians. Nonetheless, the Lions’ defense remained relentless, with a notable sack by Henry Hill, Kyric Rockholt, and Mason Terry forcing a punt from Armuchee.

The Lions quickly capitalized on their next possession, with Hill scoring a 19-yard rushing touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0. A fumble by Armuchee soon after was recovered by Cooper Middleton, leading to another Lion touchdown as Middleton returned a fumble for a 15-yard score, bringing the tally to 21-0.

Despite some resistance from Armuchee, which included a sack of Baxter by senior linebacker Cason Wade, the Lions continued to score. A 15-yard touchdown pass from Baxter to Rockholt followed by another touchdown run from Baxter himself solidified their commanding 35-0 lead before halftime.

The second half saw the Lions maintain their momentum, with backup quarterback Beau Moore entering the game and adding to the score with a 17-yard rushing touchdown. The Lions capped their scoring at 42 points after another successful extra point by Salinas.

Armuchee managed to score their only touchdown late in the game when senior running back Devyn Davis crossed into the end zone, but it was not enough to change the outcome. Salinas’ extra point marked the final score at 42-7.

This victory allowed Christian Heritage to secure second place in the Region 7-A D1 standings, finishing behind Gordon Lee, who went undefeated in the region. The Lions’ performance also marked their second consecutive win over Armuchee, following a previous victory in the inaugural matchup in 2024.

Baxter concluded the game with an impressive 16 completions out of 22 attempts and 247 passing yards, placing him fifth in the state for total passing yards with a season total of 2,406. His performance was complemented by Hill, who rushed for 54 yards, and Tatum, who recorded four receptions for 87 yards.

Reflecting on the game, Terry expressed satisfaction with his performance and the team’s overall success, stating, “I was just so happy I got to make a fumble recovery. Being a lineman, it’s hard to make something like that, so when you get the opportunity to do that, it’s always great.”

Looking ahead, Baxter shared his optimism for the playoffs, noting the team’s growth throughout the season. “I felt like we could have played better tonight, but we got the job done,” he said. “We feel good going into the playoffs and I’m hoping to see who we play. But we’re excited.”

With the Lions now focused on their playoff prospects, the upcoming matchup and date will be announced in the following days. The team is eager to build on their recent successes and make a significant impact in the postseason.
