Vintage stores in Austin are inviting shoppers to participate in a citywide Valentine’s Day-themed scavenger hunt, running from February 9 to February 22, 2024. Organized by Side Kitsch Vintage and the Vintage Around Town Guide, this event promises not only the thrill of the hunt but also a chance to win cash prizes.
Participants will search for two ducks hidden within 21 participating vintage stores across the city. The event aims to engage both seasoned vintage enthusiasts and newcomers looking to explore the charm of Austin’s antique scene. The 2024 Vintage Around Town Guide, released this month, organizes stores by area, making it easier for participants to plan their scavenger hunt route.
The scavenger hunt is designed to be enjoyable beyond just winning prizes. Shoppers who pick up a wristband at any of the stores will receive discounts at all participating locations. To qualify for prizes, participants must locate the ducks in at least 10 stores and take a selfie with each. These photos must then be posted on social media, tagging both the store and @vintagearoundtownguide, followed by a direct message to the latter for scorekeeping.
For those who find all the ducks, a second entry will be provided, increasing the chances of winning. The prizes are enticing: first place receives $500, second place gets $200, third place takes home $100, and fourth place will enjoy a $100 gift card to Scissor Sisters Salon, which shares a space with Side Kitsch Vintage.
