The UC Davis Children’s Hospital has initiated a Virtual Holiday Toy Drive, allowing individuals to support pediatric patients during the festive season. Running until December 24, 2023, this initiative enables donors to select gifts from a wish list or contribute financially to toy purchases for children and their families spending the holidays in hospital care.
In its seventh year, the Virtual Holiday Toy Drive aims to bring joy to young patients at the UC Davis Children’s Hospital, the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the UC Davis MIND Institute. The funds raised will not only provide immediate gifts but will also allow the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department to procure toys and games throughout the year, ensuring that celebrations such as birthdays and other milestones are recognized.
Diana Sundberg, manager of the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, expressed gratitude for community support. “We are so grateful for the generosity of our community,” Sundberg stated. “Every donation helps bring joy and comfort to children and families spending their holidays in the hospital. Your support truly makes the season brighter for our patients.”
The Virtual Holiday Toy Drive serves as a vital resource for enhancing the hospital experience for pediatric patients. In addition to holiday gifts, donations will be utilized to stock hospital playrooms, ensuring that children have access to playful and therapeutic activities throughout the year.
Individuals interested in contributing to this cause can easily access the Virtual Holiday Toy Drive website to learn more about the wish list items or to make a financial donation. The effort not only fosters a spirit of giving but also highlights the importance of community support in enhancing the well-being of hospitalized children.
As the holiday season approaches, the UC Davis Children’s Hospital seeks to transform what can be a difficult time into a more joyful experience for young patients and their families through this meaningful initiative.
