Redington-Fairview General Hospital Appoints Tiffany Comis as New CEO

Redington-Fairview General Hospital, located in Skowhegan, Maine, has appointed Tiffany Comis as its new chief executive officer. Comis, who previously served as the chief operating officer, takes over from Richard “Dick” D. Willett, who retired after more than 34 years in the role. The announcement was made on October 6, 2023.

In its statement, the hospital highlighted Comis’s extensive experience and commitment to patient-centered care. “Tiffany’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter in RFGH’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional, community-centered health care throughout Somerset County,” the statement read. Comis has dedicated over two decades to the hospital, starting her career as a staff nurse and advancing through various leadership positions, including emergency department nurse manager and chief nursing officer.

Comis holds master’s degrees in both nursing and business, which complement her clinical experience with strong administrative skills. She has also contributed to the healthcare community through her involvement with the Maine Hospital Association, the Organization of Maine Nurse Leaders, and the Kennebec Valley Community College board of trustees.

Willett, the outgoing CEO, has a long history with Redington-Fairview, having joined the hospital in 1972 as director of pharmacy. Under his leadership, the hospital underwent significant expansion and modernization, enhancing its facilities and services while maintaining a focus on personalized, community-oriented care. “On behalf of the entire RFGH community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Dick for his dedication, compassion, and leadership. His legacy will continue to guide and inspire us well into the future,” the hospital stated.

Redington-Fairview General Hospital is an independent community facility that opened its doors in 1952. It is a 25-bed critical access hospital providing healthcare services to more than 30,000 residents in Somerset County. The hospital is currently undergoing an expansion project that includes the construction of a new medical office building on Fairview Avenue. Estimated to cost $18 million, this project is expected to be completed in early 2027.

The transition in leadership comes at a pivotal time as the hospital continues to grow and adapt to the healthcare needs of its community.
