Nationwide Recall of Nasal Sprays Due to Contamination Risk

Nasal sprays are being recalled across the United States due to potential contamination with yeast, mold, and other microbes. The announcement, made by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 16, 2023, affects all lots of MediNatura‘s ClearLife Nasal Spray and ReBoost Nasal Spray. These products are marketed as homeopathic remedies intended to provide temporary relief from symptoms such as nasal congestion, sinus headaches, postnasal drip, sneezing, and a runny nose.

The FDA indicated that there is a “reasonable probability” that individuals who are immunocompromised could face serious health risks, including life-threatening infections, if they use the affected products.

Details of the Recall

The recalled nasal sprays are packaged in 20 milliliter bottles. The ReBoost Nasal Spray is enclosed in a white and yellow carton, with the National Drug Code (NDC) number 62795-4005-9 and the Universal Product Code (UPC) number 787647 10186 3. The ClearLife Allergy Nasal Spray is packaged in a white and green carton, identified by the NDC number 62795-4006-9 and UPC number 787647 10188 7. The recall encompasses all lots of these products with expiration dates ranging from December 2022 to December 2025.

Both products were distributed nationwide through retail outlets and via MediNatura’s website. Despite the significant health concerns, the company has reported no adverse events related to this recall.

Consumer Guidance and Actions

Customers are advised to cease using the recalled nasal sprays immediately. Those who purchased the products directly from MediNatura can contact the company via email at [email protected] to arrange for a refund. Retail customers should return the nasal sprays to the place of purchase for a refund.

As this situation develops, customers are encouraged to stay informed and monitor any updates from the FDA and MediNatura regarding the recall. The FDA continues to emphasize the importance of product safety and the need for vigilance in consumer health.
