A recent report indicates that David Corenswet will have a significant role in the upcoming film Supergirl, with sources claiming he will appear in three scenes rather than a mere cameo. This insight comes as anticipation builds for the film, which is slated to premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026.
The details of Superman’s involvement were shared by entertainment scooper AxelTalksFilm, who stated that these scenes would play an important part in the character development of Kara Zor-El, the film’s lead character. Another source, Cryptic HD QUALITY, corroborated this information but noted that Corenswet’s Superman would physically appear on screen only once.
In a December 2025 interview with GamesRadar+, Milly Alcock, who stars as Supergirl, confirmed Superman’s presence in the film. She described a challenging scene she shot with Corenswet, revealing it was filmed in Kryptonian, the language of Superman’s home planet. Alcock shared her experience, stating, “Yeah, that day was really hard, it was, like, two degrees. He jumped right in the deep end. The whole scene was in Kryptonian.”
Reports suggest that Supergirl has received positive feedback following its second test screening. Directed by Craig Gillespie, known for his work on films such as I, Tonya and Cruella, the screenplay was penned by Ana Nogueira. The film is inspired by the comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, created by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
The plot centers around Supergirl as she celebrates her 23rd birthday with her dog, Krypto. During her journey across the galaxy, she encounters a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl’s assistance in avenging her father’s murder. This quest leads Supergirl into conflict with various adversaries, including Krem of the Yellow Hills and Lobo.
Alongside Alcock and Corenswet, the cast features Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Jason Momoa, Ferdinand Kingsley, and Diarmaid Murtagh. As anticipation for the film grows, fans are eager to see how Supergirl’s story unfolds on the big screen.
