Kim Kardashian Dazzles in Maison Margiela at 2025 Academy Gala

Kim Kardashian made a striking impression at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala held in Los Angeles on October 18. The reality television star and entrepreneur donned a stunning strapless gown from Maison Margiela Couture, complete with a translucent face mask, echoing her memorable look from the 2021 Met Gala. The ensemble not only showcased Kardashian’s fashion-forward thinking but also her deep connection to the artistry of fashion design.
Kardashian, 44, arrived at the gala wearing a tan gown that featured a corset bodice and flowing sleeves, complemented by a cascade of diamond-and-emerald necklaces. Speaking on the red carpet to Variety, she expressed her admiration for the Margiela brand, stating, “You know I love Margiela, so here we are.” She also shared insights into the preparation for her look, revealing that she had flown in her favorite makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, from New York for the occasion.
“Honestly, this is kind of a last-minute thing,” she remarked, adding a touch of humor about the logistical challenges of her mask. Kardashian explained that she had her hair and makeup completed before adding the Margiela mask, which she playfully suggested she might remove while dining at the event. “I ate before to make sure that I was OK, but I can see,” she quipped, highlighting her adaptability and sense of humor.
When asked about the comfort of her mask, Kardashian noted, “You know, I’ve done this before,” referencing her previous appearance at the Met Gala in a similar face-covering ensemble. She described the design as “very Skims-y,” which resonated with her own shapewear brand, Skims. “When the Margiela Couture show came out, I saw this look, and I was like, ‘That is so Skims and so me.’”
Kardashian’s brand has gained significant attention since its launch in 2018, offering a wide range of neutral-colored bodysuits and undergarments. Recently, Skims made headlines with the launch of its innovative Faux Hair Panty, which includes faux hair affixed to the front of G-strings. “The merkin is just a fun idea that I had,” she explained to Variety, detailing the inspiration behind the new line. “I had no idea that it would sell out in a few minutes.”
The introduction of the Faux Hair Panty has sparked lively discussions within the fashion community, a space where Kardashian is no stranger to controversy and creativity. “I think it’s fun to mix it up,” she said, referring to her diverse product offerings, which also include a recent launch of a face wrap designed to support the jawline.
The 2025 Academy Museum Gala, often referred to as the Met Gala of the West, attracted numerous celebrities, showcasing the intersection of fashion and philanthropy. As Kardashian continues to push the boundaries of style and business, her appearance at the event further solidified her status as a fashion icon and a savvy entrepreneur. With her bold choices and innovative designs, she remains a significant figure in both the fashion industry and popular culture.
