Kelsey Grammer, the acclaimed star of *Frasier*, has announced that he has become a father for the eighth time. His wife, Kayte Walsh, gave birth to a baby boy named Christopher earlier this month. The couple, who are already parents to three children—12-year-old Faith, 10-year-old Gabriel, and 8-year-old James—have welcomed their fourth child together, marking a significant milestone for the 70-year-old actor.
Grammer shared the news during the October 27 episode of the *Pod Meets World* podcast, which features hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong. He revealed, “It was like three days ago that Christopher just joined the family.” The actor was discussing his memoir, *Karen: A Brother Remembers*, which he wrote in honor of his late sister.
Alongside his three younger children with Walsh, Grammer is also the father of 41-year-old Spencer, whom he shares with his first wife, Doreen Alderman. He has a 33-year-old daughter, Greer, with ex-partner Barrie Buckner, and two additional children, 23-year-old Mason and 20-year-old Jude, with his former wife, Camille Grammer.
The news of Walsh’s pregnancy first emerged in June, when the couple was spotted in a London park, with Walsh’s baby bump visible. Earlier this year, Grammer expressed his desire to be more present for his older children. He acknowledged feeling he had “neglected a couple” of them, particularly the first two, stating, “I’m still their dad, so you can always have a chance to show up.”
He reiterated the importance of expectations and discipline in parenting, especially with his older children. “I’m pretty tolerant with the young ones, but I’m clear about how there are certain expectations and certain ways to navigate through a social situation,” he explained. Grammer emphasized the importance of education and personal responsibility, reminding them, “What’s your job in life? Showing up.”
In his memoir, Grammer reflects on the traumatic loss of his sister, Karen, who was murdered in a brutal attack in July 1975. He recounts the harrowing moment when he learned of her death after detectives informed him at his home in Pompano Beach, Florida. Karen was just 18 years old when she was tragically killed, just weeks shy of her 19th birthday. This painful chapter of his life has shaped much of his perspective on family and responsibility.
As Grammer embraces fatherhood once again, he continues to navigate his complex family dynamics while honoring the memory of his sister through his writing. His journey as a parent remains a central focus for him, as he strives to maintain connections with all of his children.
