Producer Harman Baweja and director Arati Kadav are set to collaborate on a new film, marking their second partnership after the success of last year’s drama, “Mrs.” The announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of the critically acclaimed film, which featured Sanya Malhotra and gained recognition for its insightful exploration of domestic identity and gender dynamics.
“Mrs.,” produced by Baweja Studios in collaboration with Jio Studios, received widespread acclaim, including accolades at prestigious festivals such as Black Nights Tallinn and IFFI Goa. The film reinterpreted Jeo Baby’s Malayalam cult classic, “The Great Indian Kitchen,” presenting it through a North Indian cultural lens. It intricately depicted the gradual erosion of a woman’s sense of self while incorporating traditional practices like Karwa Chauth. Baweja also contributed as a co-writer alongside Kadav.
While specific details about their upcoming project remain undisclosed, both Baweja and Kadav expressed enthusiasm about their renewed collaboration. Baweja highlighted the film’s success, stating, “‘Mrs.’ reaffirmed my belief audiences are ready for audacious cinema that is intimate and transformative all at once.” He further emphasized the importance of their creative synergy, noting, “When a collaboration is built on trust and shared intent, you naturally want to create again.”
Kadav echoed Baweja’s sentiments, sharing her gratitude for their partnership. “I feel very happy, safe, inspired, and delighted to work with Harman Baweja. He and his team have always helped me do my best,” she remarked. She credited the success of “Mrs.” to the strong team dynamic, stating, “Baweja Studios feels like home.”
The announcement comes as Baweja Studios continues to build momentum with its recent release of “Haq.” The studio also boasts an active development slate for 2026, which includes films such as “Dil Ka Darwaza Kholo Na Darling,” “Captain India,” and “Boy From Andaman,” alongside several other projects currently in development.
As Baweja and Kadav prepare for their new venture, audiences can anticipate another compelling narrative that pushes boundaries and resonates with viewers, much like their previous collaboration. The duo’s commitment to creating meaningful cinema promises to deliver a film that not only entertains but also provokes thought and discussion.
